Channel 103 hold an annual marathon radio auction to

raise money for the Joint Charities Christmas Appeal.

The money raised from the entire appeal gives local families a better Christmas by giving fuel vouchers, food vouchers and toy vouchers.
Coordinator of the radio auction Murray Norton was delighted with the record breaking sum of £52,500 raised on Sunday Dec 2nd, when some 207 auction lots were sold on air during the continuous six hour show. "I’ve been involved with the radio auction for more than twenty years and this year was the biggest and best ever, which enabled local people to have the kind of Christmas that most of us take for granted"
The star lot of the auction was that from Thompson Estates, who generously agreed to sell any residential property for a 1/2 % (half a percent) no limit on the price of property i.e. £100,000 to £10 million. This means a massive saving for Brian who paid £2,600, to be the winning bidder in the auction.
Auction organiser Murray Norton was thrilled with the outcome. "Obviously Brian got a bargain which is what anyone bidding is looking for. I’m also so grateful that Thompson Estates are so generous in offering such a huge and unusual lot for the auction, which was not only a great talking point but attracted the highest bid of all 207 lots!"
This year Murray has his eyes firmly focused on raising £100,000 for ten local charity projects in his brainchild the 10 Charity Challenge, which will involve a year of events and fund raisers, including a massive cycle ride, coast to coast across Mexico.

He should know the way – he’s done it twice already! We wish him well and promise to update you later in the year...
