Our Charity

Thompson Estates as a company together with their employees realise living in a small island the great significance of charity work. We acknowledge the importance of corporate social responsibility and the interest taken by the general public.

Thompson Estates frequently shows its support for local and national charities; this includes sending a young local boxing enthusiast to meet with his idol Muhammad Ali in America, Charity dinners and balls, plus we frequently donate the front page of our magazine to local causes such as Jersey Hospice which helps raise awareness for their campaigns.

A Director along with a negotiator ran the New York Marathon in 2008, rewarding office staff the trip of a lifetime to support them, raising almost £10,000, £5,000 of which was donated to Whizz Kidz a disabled children’s charity, the other £5,000 is being distributed to our local charities. We also entered the annual Jersey Dragon Boat racing event where we raised over £1,200 for Jersey Hospice in 2009.

Setting up the charity

As a team we all feel it is important to get involved in charity work, we decided to take it further by setting up our own charity ‘Thompson Estates Charity’ where money raised or given in gratitude would be deposited to our charity account, then divided between local causes and charities, which also allowed us to sponsor associates such as a local builder riding in Etape du Tour earlier in the year raising money for the charity Help a Jersey Child, a local surveyor in a charity race to Barcelona in aid of Jersey hospice and we re-conditioned our old computers and donated them to the local special needs school Mont A L’abbe.

Thompson Estates also sponsored the islands biggest music festival, ‘JerseyLive’ an event like no other in Jersey which included all age groups from mums pushing prams to groups of teenage girls and twenty-something indie kids to sixty plus folk fans, there was a genuine spirit of togetherness.

We are proud to support our staff in their personal charity work including taking part in the London Marathon, Local Rally’s, charity Rugby matches and other company’s charity events.

Keep an eye out for Thompson Estates upcoming events to see if you can help support out local charities.
