Voted winner at the 2009 Estate Agency of the Year Awards
Thompson Estates received the ultimate industry accolade by being crowned as the winner of Best small agency South West at the 2009 Estate Agency of the Year Awards in association with The Sunday Times.
The event, in its sixth year, was supported for the first time by The Sunday Times and is widely recognised as the most important in the industry calendar. The sold out event attracted agents representing over 4,000 branches nationwide and in a sign of improving times for the market, this year received a record number of award entries.
Thompson Estates were delighted to receive the award. Director, Margaret Thompson commenting: “This is recognition for the fantastic work carried out by every member of the Thompson Estates team. Commitment to best practice and excellence are even more important at times like this as Island buyers and sellers want to ensure that they are dealing with the best professionals.”
The judges’ report highlighted the particular qualities of Thompson Estates stating, “In a very short time, this Jersey based agency has achieved fantastic business growth through expert knowledge of the island, innovative marketing and state of the art office facilities. They have managed to increase their market share from their closest competitor, a long established agent and a hot desking arrangement enables the most motivated negotiators to be in the front line. Closely involved with local causes and initiatives, Thompson Estates are an agency to watch.”

Thompson Estates honoured at the Enterprise Awards
It was an honour to win the Best Medium Business category in the Jersey Enterprise Awards. The awards have grown in both size and prestige in recent years to become one of the highlights of the year for businesses, and it is pleasing to see that areas other than the finance industry are recognised. Last year's winner in our category was the Jersey Oyster Company and for Thompson Estates to take over this year demonstrates that the community values the variety that exists in commerce here.
There is no doubt that the housing market in the island is still buoyant and we are committed to providing a service to match the quality of the properties we are privileged to deal with.
The decision to enter for the award was the result of several factors, one being that estate agents are not usually nominated for awards and we wanted to redress the balance.
The medium business category is for companies with between six and 30 staff and the criteria for the awards in general are based on the European standard EFQM Excellence Model. The theory behind this is that regardless of sector, size, structure or maturity, to be successful, organisations need to establish an appropriate management framework, on the basis that excellent results with respect to performance, customers, people and society are achieved through leadership driving policy and strategy, delivered through people, partnerships and resources, and processes.

Thompson Estates Ltd tops estate agency tree as the industry honours its very best at the annual Estate Agency of the Year Awards
Thompson Estates Ltd deservedly received a Best Small South West Agency Award at the 2008 Estate Agency of the Year Awards, held at the QEII Centre in central London. The event, in its fifth year, is widely recognised as the most important in the industry calendar and, even in the midst of the toughest times faced by UK estate agents for many years, attracted an audience of over 450.
Success at the Estate Agency of the Year Awards is not easily come by. The awards are judged by an independent panel of industry experts and the whole process is overseen by the UK Ombudsman for the industry, Christopher Hamer, as well as being endorsed by UK industry bodies the National Association of Estate Agents and the Association of Residential Lettings Agents.
